The belief that political parties were breaking up the people. It was like voting on alliances, not parties. It was hard to be heard when there were only two major parties in the U.S. The Democratic party, and the Republican party. Trying to do something different can cause the nation to fall apart.


Many of the founding fathers believed (and turned out to be someone correct) that political parties would lead to the disintegration of the Union. People in favor of them thought they would foster progress.
