3b + 2(b − 1) = 8 3b + 2b - 2 = 8 5b = 10 b = 2 answer b = 2

So to start out the equation, you would have to distribute the 2 to the numbers and letters in the parenthesis. This should get me to:3b+2b-2=8. Add 2 on both sides of the equation and add up like terms. Now the equation looks like this: 5b=10. Now divide 5 to both sides which should give you b. b=2 I hope this helps you!
