[latex] \frac{4}{5} [/latex] - [latex] \frac{1}{2} [/latex] First, find the least common denominator (LCD) of the two fractions.  Factors of 5: 5, 10. Factors of 2: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. The LCD is 10. Second, make the denominators the same as the LCD. / Your problem should look like: [latex] \frac{4x2}{5x2} [/latex] - [latex] \frac{1x5}{2x5} [/latex] Third, simplify. The denominators are now the same. / Your problem should look like: [latex] \frac{8}{10} [/latex] - [latex] \frac{5}{10} [/latex] Fourth, join the denominators. / Your problem should look like: [latex] \frac{8-5}{10} [/latex] Fifth, simplify. / Your problem should look like: [latex] \frac{3}{10} [/latex] Answer as fraction: [latex] \frac{3}{10} [/latex] Answer as decimal: 0.3
