We need to set the 1st number as x. Since the integers are consecutive we just add 1 more for each integer, so the 2nd number is x + 1, then x + 2, x + 3, and x + 4. When we add them all together we get 130 so... x+(x+1)+(x+2)+(x+3)+(x+4)= 130 Since it is only addition we don't have to keep the parentheses because of the associative property. x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4=130 5x + 10 = 130 5x = 120 x = 24 So the first number is 24. 2nd number is x+1 or 25. 3rd number is x+2 or 26 and so on... Your consecutive numbers are 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28. We can check by adding them up and see if they equal 130. 24+25+26+27+28= 130 It checks!
