Given the slope and the y-intercept of the line, we can start writing its equation by using first the slope-intercept form which  is generally written as                                                      y = mx + b Substituting the known values,                                               y = (-1/3)x + 10/3 Multiplying 3 to both sides of the equation gives,                                              3y = -x + 10  Thus, the general form of the line is x + 3y = 10.
