Split the shaded shape into three parts: The bottom side by the 2 foot side, the triangle on the top, and the section in the middle. The area of the first one I mentioned is 16 ft squared, the second is 15 ft squared, and the last one is 10 ft squared. 10+15+16 is 41, so the shaded region is 41 ft squared. 8 times 16 is 128, so 128 minus 41 is 87. 87 feet squared is the answer
