Linguistic relativity, also known as the Shapiro-Wolf hypothesis is an hypothesis which states that an individual's language will shape and influence one's thoughts - c. An example of this would be that people from countries who have more contact with snow will also have more words for snow and that this will enable them to have more vivid and rich internal models of snow.  This hypothesis has, however, received some critisism.
