Alexandra paid $7 to park her car for 3 hours at the parking garage. The garage charges an hourly parking rate. Write an equation that shows the relationship between the number of hours parked (p) and the cost in dollars (c)?

$7 was paid to park the car for 3 hours. 3 hours  cost $7 to park 1 hour  =   $ (7/3) So every 1 hour cost $(7/3) Therefore cost in dollars,  c  =  (7/3)*p Therefore c = (7/3)p,    where c is the cost in dollars of parking and p is the number of hours.
